Finally, I have found the Nth Irish family I had been searching for, for about a decade. They had shortened their (very Italian) name to Gasper - no wonder I couldn't find them under their original name! I should have realised that was a possibility, as I had gone to school with children whose parents in OZ did the same over time (slow learner, me).
